ProSiebenSat.1 is one of the largest media companies in Europe. Our successful free-TV and pay-TV stations reach a mass audience every day in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We are the number one in the German advertising and advertising market.
In the course of digitization, the media sector has changed considerably – and ProSiebenSat.1 has with it. A few years ago we were still a classic TV company, today we are much more than television. We are a digital media house with various business areas: the German-speaking TV business, our digital services with a large entertainment and e-commerce portfolio as well as our international program production and sales subsidiaries.
But before we introduce you to the individual segments of the company in detail, our first article provides an overview of the various business segments behind ProSiebenSat.1:
Television is the basis of our success. We use the millions reach of our TV channels to penetrate digital business. In this way, we have consistently diversified our company over the last few years and has created additional sources of revenue. Today, our growth is based on four segments: the German-speaking TV business, our digital division with a large entertainment and e-commerce portfolio as well as our international program production and distribution business.
ProSiebenSat.1 is Germany’s most successful station group. In addition to the seven free-to-air TV stations ProSieben, SAT.1, kabel eins, sixx, SAT.1 Gold, ProSieben MAXX and kabel eins Doku, we also have three Pay TV channels. Also in Austria and Switzerland we run all our stations successfully. We reach about 42 million TV households daily in the German-speaking countries and are the number one in the advertising and advertising market.
Also on the Internet, we are Germany’s leading motion picture marketers and reach more than 30 million digital users. By extending TV formats to digital platforms, viewers can also watch our TV program online anytime, anywhere. The Digital Entertainment segment combines the online video business with the pay-video-on-demand portal maxdome, the multi-channel Network Studio71, as well as the ad-video-on-demand, ad-tech and data topics. ProSiebenSat.1 is planning to become one of the leading players in the field of digital entertainment.
DIGITAL VENTURES & COMMERCE
Digitization not only changes our media usage behavior but also our consumption behavior. E-commerce platforms that are suitable for TV advertising offer a new growth prospect for ProSiebenSat.1. We have created an attractive e-commerce portfolio through traditional acquisitions and acquisitions, but also through the exchange of advertising time against sales and / or company participation. We bundle the acquired portals (of which you see only a part here) thematically in the Verticals online price comparison, online dating, online travel and lifestyle commerce. The Digital Ventures & Commerce segment is now one of our most important growth drivers.
CONTENT PRODUCTION & GLOBAL SALES
The segment Production & Global Sales comprises the international program production and distribution business of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group; The two divisions are bundled under the umbrella of the Red Arrow Entertainment Group. In addition to the global program distribution Red Arrow International, Red Arrow also includes 19 international television productions in eight countries. In 2015 Red Arrow sold TV formats to over 200 countries, the production company has more than 800 titles in the program.
Our courage to go new ways has made us a powerhouse for broadcasting, digital entertainment and commerce. The value-enhancing networking of our broad-spectrum TV business with our digital business is the key to our success. Since March 2016, as a DAX member, we have been one of the 30 most valuable, listed companies in Germany – a perfect motivation to continue the expansion of our business in the future.
