With much anticipation and enthusiasm, Injaz UAE hosted the first ‘Company Program Competition 2012’ dedicated for university students, where 9 student-led teams from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain competed for the winning title in Abu-Dhabi.

‘Mark The Date’ team from Zayed University clinched the top award of ‘Best Student Company of the Year 2012’ and also won a second award for ‘Best Marketing Plan’ for their innovation driven event creator company that aims to reward its customers with pleasant surprises as the events unfold.

The team will progress to the regional round of the ‘Injaz Al-Arab Company Competition’, where they will compete against 13 winners from across the MENA region in November 2012.

The competition invited young entrepreneurs to judge the students in 4 phases. Anas Bukhash, Managing Partner at Ahdaaf Sports Club; Faisal Al Hammadi, CEO, Slices; Raed Daoudi, Learning & Development Manager, Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, and Mohamed Parham Al Awadhi, CEO, Wild Peeta – all offering key insights, feedback, and professional advice that left the students with lessons for a lifetime. ‘Mark The Date’ team took the top accolade after impressing the judges with their business idea and execution of it. The team was mentored by volunteers Abdullah Al Qassab and Amal Almutawa who spent six months working with the students on the planning and development of their business.
