A Cambridge health technology pioneer has opened a new UK office at the heart of London’s Silicon Roundabout as it ramps up headcount to meet global demand.

Cambridge Healthcare Ltd, whose How are you? eHealth portal promises to give patients more say in their treatment, has added the Tech City offices to its global headquarters in Cambridge and its Beijing operations.

Founder and CEO, Dawson King, says the London office will help the business attract new engineering and design talent from the Tech City hotspot.

The move comes just a week after the company signed an exclusive licensing agreement that will see its technology adopted by China’s largest consumer website and brand, Sina.com, with more than 500 million registered users – a third of China’s population.

In the last two months, Cambridge Healthcare has grown its head count from four to 13 people and is continuing to aggressively recruit both in Cambridge’s Silicon Fen and now London’s Silicon Roundabout.

In the UK and US, Cambridge Healthcare has been working closely with Microsoft Health on integrating the global giant’s HealthVault solution into How are you? (howareyou.com). An announcement detailing the partnership is expected later this week.

King said: “This is a very exciting time for us as we transition from start-up to enterprise. Growing from a few hundred thousand users in the UK to more than 500 million within a couple of months is not just an engineering challenge but also an operational and HR one. We’re facing similar growth to Facebook when it started.
