Pearson partners with TechMeetups to support the London Startup community

TechMeetups announces its partnership with Pearson to help its London Tech Community – The London Silicon Roundabout group.

“Our partnership with Pearson  is a testament to the value proposition we bring to Innovative and open ended Enterprises that see the importance of opening up content, engaging with startups, tapping into innovation and building an ecosystem outside its corporate walls” Shawn, Founder TechMeetups.

Pearson is the world’s leading learning company, providing educational materials and services, business information through the Financial Times Group, and consumer publishing through the Penguin brand.

Pearson serves learners of all ages around the globe, employing 41,000 people in more than 70 countries. For more information, visit www.pearson.com. Pearson’s API programme, Plug & Play, provides access to some of Pearson’s wealth of content covering topics such as food, learning, travel & literature.

In partnership with TechMeetups, Pearson aims to build key partnerships within the developer and start-up community by opening up some of their content for external consumption through APIs.

Pearson will be presenting prototype apps that have been built using their APIs at the TechMeetups March Drinks & Demo Night and will actively engage with the Techmeetups community at the Ideathon & Hackathon in April.

Pearson is also offering scholarships to 5 amazing Startups for the TechMeetups Guru program later this year. The TechMeetups Guru program helps Startups with all aspects of their business from Business models to Sales & Marketing and Product Engineering to Fund raising.

TechMeetups started by launching the London Silicon Roundabout Tech community in December 2010 and since then it has become one of the fastest growing Tech communities in London with over 3200 members (Mar 2013). The group was started to bring together Startups, entrepreneurs, investors, techies and webbies in and around London’s Silicon Roundabout & Tech City area. TechMeetups organises meetups, masterclasses, hackathons, mentoring workshops, job fairs, parties & socials to get the community together and to help it collaborate.

Apart from being active in London TechMeetups aims to create a global network of Tech communities from San Francisco to Sydney. We believe that Tech communities are isolated and great things can be achieved if we connect within our cities and outside our borders. Our goal is to create a global Tech cluster of over 50 communities by 2013. Till date we have 23 global communities in  London, Cambridge, Manchester, Paris, Berlin, Lisbon, New York, Dallas, Miami,  San Francisco, Singapore, Bangalore, Mumbai, Bangkok, Dubai, Rio, Sao Paulo,  Budapest, Moscow, Belgrade,  Barcelona, Sydney, Amsterdam.
